The Model Series department is the overall project manager for multiple vehicle projects within a product line. The key product decisions are prepared and taken in model series meetings. It monitors the project status and manages the cooperating departments to ensure that the targets concerning content, finance and scheduling of the vehicle projects are reached. And it intervenes if deviations or conflicts arise.

Platforms, construction kits and modules create synergies between Volkswagen vehicles and other brands. Project Management of Platforms is the interface to all users of a vehicle platform. It determines the product requirements with users, integrates the development scope in the vehicle projects and ensures the close integration of content.

Project managers for the complete vehicle are responsible for the interdisciplinary planning and control of all activities related to the complete vehicle throughout the product life cycle, for instance technology, costs and tests. You will be responsible for resolving conflicting interests and goals between the technical departments involved in the product emergence process and for the functioning of the complete vehicle system.

The project managers for powertrains, construction, electric systems and running gear manage activities in their respective technical division throughout the life cycle of the vehicle for all models in a series. You will be responsible for the related vehicle scope, for managing achievement of relevant targets and for ensuring that the vehicle’s sub-systems are fully functioning.

The project and process managers plan and manage current and future projects. You will work closely with the relevant offices in relation to controlling and central planning. In addition, you will ensure cost and schedule compliance, provide a centralised reporting system and ensure that decision deadlines are met within the product line.

The task of the project managers for production, sales, procurement, finance and quality manage is to coordinate all activities in their respective business division throughout the life cycle of the vehicle for all models in a product line. For instance, you will plan the plants’ production activities, sales figures or tool investments. And you will ensure compliance with the product objectives in the respective division.
